Pittwater Day Surgery - Fees & Charges
There are 3 fees for your surgery 1) for the use of the Day Surgery, 2) for the Anaesthetist and 3)
for the Surgeon.
- 1/ For insured patients Pittwater Day Surgery has contracts with all the major health funds to ensure
hospital charges are paid by that relevant fund. These fees cover the use of the Operating Theatre (OT)
and the Accommodation. You may need to pay an excess. This will depend on your particular choice about
your level of cover. We complete all health fund claim forms on behalf of our patients and forward them to
the relevant health fund. If you are not privately insured, you will be asked to pay the estimated cost
of hospitalisation on admission. For your convenience we accept cash, cheque or credit card payments. For
both insured and uninsured patients our Fund Manager will give you an estimate of the day surgery fee prior
to your admission. This is called Informed Financial Consent. You may also have a Pathology fee from
the Pathology Service.
- 2/ You may also receive an Anaesthetist fee if you have had a General Anaesthetic or IV Sedation. If you
are uninsured you may be asked to pay this on admission.
- 3/ You are asked to confirm the surgeon's estimate of his charges also. Medicare will provide benefits towards
these fees. If you are uninsured you may be asked to pay these on admission also.
