Dr Matthew Spargo

Dr Spargo is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with subspecialty training in paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. He also has expertise in cataract and pterygium surgery.

 

He completed his undergraduate medical degree with Honours from The University of Sydney. His specialty training in ophthalmology took place at The Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital. He then travelled to the United Kingdom to complete his subspecialty fellowship training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and Oxford University Hospitals.

Dr Spargo holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney and is a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. He is an active contributor to the academic literature, having published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings.

He is a Paediatric Ophthalmologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and a Visiting Medical Officer at Broken Hill Base Hospital in remote NSW.

Dr Spargo prides himself on delivering outstanding care to his patients and their family. He is particularly passionate about ensuring that children develop their full visual potential.
